Air Resistance issues
Will an electrostatic air filter cause too much air resistance for my unit?

That's a good question! Some electrostatic filters contain 4 or 5 layers of filter media. They do a great job trapping dust, but they also have too much resistance and can definitely harm your unit over time. Air Care make their filters with a good balance between dust arrestance (94.7%) and air resistance (0.12" W.G.). Of course, another key factor is how often the filter is cleaned. We recommend every 30-60 days.

If I only have one return air grill in a 2500 sq feet home w/ one pet how often do you recommend me cleaning. And what keeps these filters from growing mold?

are your filters appropriate for a/c with heat pump capabilities? what frame do you recommend for a custom sized 22x22x1?

Do all heaters have a filter and is this a "normal" size? Our home is a 2000 house and never opened up the heat but just curious where it is on it and how to take it out. I am also looking for an A/C one, I see dst arrestance is 94.7 but in laymens terms what is this, how does it compare to the very good ones in the stores.
Thanks.
Thanks.

My furnace calls for a 1" thick filter--I saw that Boair 5 stage electrostatic comes in 2" thickness as well as 1". What is the difference? Any benefits going with a 2" thickness?
